PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a commodity sorting system capable of continuously sorting a plurality of kinds of commodities depending on destination of shipment, preventing erroneous shipment and achieving high efficiency in shipment work with an inexpensive configuration. SOLUTION: This commodity sorting system 20 is provided with a sorting device 2, a sorting chute 3, a terminal unit 5 for picking, a charging history sensor 6, a count sensor 4, a display lamp 9, and a management terminal unit 7. The management terminal unit 7 determines the sorting chute 3 for supplying the commodities charged into the sorting device 2 based on sorting information and the data about the presence of the commodities detected by the charging history sensor 6 to control the sorting device 2 so as to supply the commodities to the sorting chute 3 based on the results of this determination. The management terminal unit 7 compares the information about the number of commodities to be shipped allotted to the sorting chute 3 with the data of the number of commodities detected by the count sensor 4 to control so as to turn on the display lamp 9 corresponding to the sorting chute 3 when the number of commodities agrees with the number of commodities to be shipped.
