DATA COMPRESSION METHOD AND APPARATUS, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of efficiently compressing a drawing image point data group by using run length coding, wherein the drawing image point data group comprises a plurality of drawing image point data by each drawing image point for forming the drawing image points on a two-dimensional image.

SOLUTION: A first compression processing section 61b of a compression processing means 61a encodes the drawing image point data group by first run length coding, wherein a prescribed number of bits (e.g. 8 bits) for forming 1 byte is a fixed length to generate a code data group comprising a plurality of 1-byte code data. A second compression processing section 61c encodes a repetitive pattern of the code data included in the code data group by second run length coding to generate image data whose compression processing is finished.
