PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for a vehicle capable of performing effective gradation illumination on the design surface of a dial plate. SOLUTION: In this instrument device 1 for the vehicle equipped with a gradation illumination means 30 wherein light from an LED 31 is emitted through a light guide 32 and the design surface 4 of the dial plate 3 is irradiated with emission light, the design surface 4 has an approximately trapezoid-shaped section having a flat center part 5 and inclined planes 6 declining downward gradually in proportion to the distance from the fringe of the flat part 5 to the outside in the radial direction, and metallic printing is applied to the design surface 4, and at least the inclined planes 6 are irradiated with the emission light emitted through the light guide 32.
