The timer has a separate electrical switch (11) that is assigned to each switching unit (2) and is switchable by actuation of the switching units, and a control device provided with a microprocessor (13), where switching conditions of the switch are detected by the processor. The microprocessor has a storage area, in which time information is stored. The microprocessor calculates switching period with switching-on and off time points for switching on and off of a load connected to the timer by using the switching conditions and the time information.
