PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rear seat device for an automobile, provided with at least one seat comprising a backrest part and a seat surface, in which the backrest part comprises a backrest side wall at a side part extended at least along part of height of the backrest part, and is collapsible around a rotation axial line without depending on the backrest side wall at the side part. SOLUTION: The backrest side wall 7 at the rear seat device is journaled in such a way that its rotation position is adjustable around the rotation axial line 8. The backrest side wall is position-adjustable into at least two different backrest part inclination positions with the backrest part 2. At this time, the backrest part 2 is collapsible from each backrest part inclination position forward around the rotation axial line 8 without depending on the backrest part side wall at the side.
