A self-clinching type fastener and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce troubles of components by preventing a cutting chip from remaining inside a bore in a tapping process. A self-clinching type fastener, made of carbon steel wire rods for cold heading and cold forging, comprises a barrel(4) having a bore whose end portions are opened to the top and the bottom and a head(2) formed in one end portion of outer circumference of the barrel.
