A system and a method for inserting a data code into an image are provided to reliably perform reading and searching a recorded image in spite of noise added in the processing of recording, duplicating and storing by performing encoding and decoding according to systematized data coding rule. A data input unit(10) receives an image signal, an image read signal, and an image search signal including search conditions from a user. A data image code generating unit(20) generates a data image code having continuity by applying a predetermined code generation rule. An image inserting unit(30) inserts data, as an image, of a record date, a record time, a record place and a capture direction into each frame of an image. An image reading/searching unit(40) reads the inserted data image in real time in spite of noise added from outside, and searches image information according to the search conditions. A data storage unit(50) stores the image signal, the image read signal and the image search signal received from the user and the data image code generated by the data image code generating unit(20). A controller(70) controls each element to perform their functions as mentioned above, and outputs searched image information to allow the user to check it.
