METHOD FOR DETERMINING A RADIATION SENSITIVITY OF CANCER CELLS USING MTT AND A KIT COMPRISING THE SAME

A method for determining the radiation sensitivity of cancer cells is provided to perform the customized radiation treatment to a cancer patient by predicting the radiation treatment sensitivity of the patient and increase the therapeutic effect and decrease side effects by diversifying subjects to be treated with the radiation. A method for determining the radiation sensitivity of cancer cells comprises the steps of: (a) isolating the cancer cells from an individual; (b) exposing the cancer cells to a radiation source such as gamma-ray; (c) culturing the cancer cells exposed to the radiation for 48-72 hours; (d) adding MTT(3-(4,5-dimethylthiazole-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) to the cultured cancer cells; (e) determining the effect of the radiation on the proliferation of the cancer cells by measuring the amount of generated formazan; and (f) determining the relative sensitivity of the cancer cells regarding the radiation. A kit for determining the radiation sensitivity of cancer cells comprises the MTT.
