<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decoding processing apparatus and a method thereof capable of suppressing occurrence of an error in a restored pixel value in decoding processing of encoded data so as to prevent deterioration in the image quality. <P>SOLUTION: In the case of decoding encoded data produced by quantization processing adopting e.g. an ADRC or the like, interpolation processing of pixel values is executed by adopting adjacent pixel values. A dynamic range and a quantization error corresponding to the number of quantization bits are calculated and pixel values are interpolated by adopting the calculated quantization error. Through the configuration above, optimum interpolation processing is attained corresponding to various image forms and quantization forms, a different pixel levels can be set event to pixels within the same quantization step width, a smooth pixel value distribution can be realized in a consecutive pixel area so as to suppress the image quality degradation by encoding and decoding processing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
