APPARATUS FOR SELECTING ANTENNA AND NODE IN MIMO SYSTEM AND METHOD THEREOF

An apparatus for selecting an antenna or a node in an MIMO communication system and a method thereof are provided to minimize a communication failure of a link, and to maximize communication capacity by attaining a spatial multiplexing gain via an array antenna mounted on the node. An apparatus for selecting an antenna or a node in an MIMO communication system comprises a receiver(110), the first combination unit(130), the second combination unit(140) and a selecting unit(120). The receiver(110) detects a communication start signal from a received signal. The first combination unit(130) calculates communication capacity on the basis of the communication start signal, finds a combination of transmitting antennas whose value of the communication capacity gets maximized, and performs communication. The second combination unit(140) selects a node which maximizes an average SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) of each node on the basis of the communication start signal. The selecting unit(120) activates one between the first combination unit(130) and the second combination unit(140) and deactivates the other.
