PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device capable of shifting a discharge lamp into a stable lighting state from starting without causing going- out of the discharge lamp while suppressing power supply chattering at the drop of input voltage. SOLUTION: Power is supplied to a DC-DC converter 3 from a battery 1 through input harness 2. The DC-DC converter 3 is provided with a switching element 32, and the output of the DC-DC converter 3 is supplied to the discharge lamp 6 through an inverter 4. A control circuit 7 controls transmission energy from the input side of the DC-DC converter 3 to the output side by controlling the on-duty of the switching element 32 so as to suppress the excessive rise of an input current on the basis of the input current to the DC-DC converter 3 detected by a current detecting means 8. |
