A method for managing user contents in a communication terminal is provided to efficiently manage user contents and conveniently search for desired user contents by extracting necessary regions from user contents and managing the extracted regions separately from the user contents. If a request to set up an extraction function in a communication terminal is generated through a touch screen or a key input part(211), a control part executes a procedure to set up the extraction function(213). In case a request to search for user contents is generated(221), however, the control part executes a procedure to search for user contents(223). If a request to search for extracted regions is generated(231), the control part executes a procedure to search for extracted regions(233). If so, the control part displays a maker list. If the user selects a marker from the displayed list, the control part displays a contents item list. If the user selects an item from the displayed list, the control part displays the user contents list of the selected item. If the user selects user contents from the displayed list, the control part displays the extracted region list of the selected contents. If an extracted region is selected from the extracted region list, the control part displays user contents containing the selected extracted region.
