A system and a method for protecting a computer from viruses are provided to block breakage of an execution program file and prevent incorrect system operation by storing the execution program files to a read-only storage device. A CPU executes programs, a first storing part(210) stores the execution program files, and a second storing part(220) stores the files excluding the execution program files. The first storing part is the read-only storage device permitting reading the stored data and prohibiting writing to receive no influence from computer viruses. A third storing part(230) stores executable files occurring in addition to the execution program file. The third storing part is one of a PROM(Programmable ROM), an EPROM(Erase Programmable ROM), and an EEPROM(Electronically Erasable Programmable ROM). A housing receives the CPU and the second storing part, and the first or second storing part is attachable to the housing. A CPU(Central Process Unit) is connected to a north bridge through a host interface and receives a program file of the first to third storing parts.
