A plasma display device is provided to maintain a drive pulse at a predetermined inclination of voltage transition in rising or falling edge even in the presence of a variation in temperature, thereby producing stable discharges. A plasma display device includes a waveform generation circuit for generating a drive pulse having a gradually varying waveform with a gradual voltage transition occurring in a rising or falling edge and for applying the resulting drive pulse to a display electrode of the plasma display panel. The waveform generation circuit has a resistor(R1) with a predetermined potential applied to one end thereof, a switching element connecting between the other end of the resistor element and the display electrode in response to a control voltage, and an operational amplifier(U1) outputting a difference between a potential of a waveform generation signal for promoting generation of the gradually varying waveform and a potential at the other end of the resistor.
