摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal panel that keeps high flatness and uniformity in the alignment property of a liquid crystal by using a partial surface treatment with atmospheric plasma. <P>SOLUTION: The process of manufacturing a liquid crystal panel comprises: forming a polyimide film 92 to be an alignment layer over the entire surface of a transparent glass substrate 90 on which a transparent electrode 91 is formed; placing a mask 77 to separate a part of the alignment layer corresponding to the position of the terminal section of the transparent electrode from other part; generating gas discharge between an electrode 78 and the alignment layer under atmospheric or near atmospheric pressure to produce excited active species of a predetermined gas by the gas discharge; and selectively exposing a part of the alignment layer to the excited active species to remove the layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
