A text input device is provided to double an input capacity and allow a user to quickly and accurately input characters simultaneously. A base includes an input area. Two input sets(I,I') are disposed on the base(110). The input sets(I,I') respectively include an input unit(10) for performing a directional input to select one of a plurality of directional indication positions radially spaced apart based on a reference position within the input area, a central input key(30) provided at the center of the input unit(10) and performing a central input when pressed, a directional input sensing unit for sensing the directional input, and a central input sensing unit for sensing the central input. A controller extracts the first character assigned to each directional indication position and the central input key(30) from a memory unit based on the sensing results of the directional input sensing unit and the central input sensing unit, and inputs the same. |
