A method and an apparatus for interpolating an image are provided to obtain a reliable interpolation value quickly and perform interpolation faster than a cubic linear interpolation method by a pyralinear interpolation method. A method for interpolating an image comprises the following steps of: searching a plane nearest to a point on three dimensions composed of plural planes(910); acquiring information about a surface opposite the plane by using the searched plane and image information about at least one fixed point of a facing plane(920); and interpolating the image information of the point by using the image information about at least one fixed point of the searched plane and the acquired opposite surface information(930).
