A swash plate type compressor is provided to reduce a noise generated by a suction reed hitting a valve plate while preventing leakage of refrigerant, thereby realizing a pleasant operation environment. A valve plate assembly is installed between a cylinder block and a rear housing for sucking in or discharging refrigerant in accordance with a reciprocating motion of pistons. The valve plate assembly includes a suction reed plate, a valve plate(110), and a discharge reed plate. Suction reed elastic deformation parts are formed at a part contacting with a neck part of a suction reed(121) of the valve plate, wherein the suction reed elastic deformation parts are knurling part(P) having as much as height protruded from a surface of the valve plate in a range from 20 um to 50 um.
