The computer mouse (1) outer shape enables it to be moved over a flat base surface (3). At least one accelerometer is used in conjunction with a portable computer (4). A flex head (2) which is stsatic in relation to the portable computer which in turn is also static in relation to the base surface. The flex head contains an accelerometer, a flex which connects the two types of accelerometer and the processing unit and a base (3) on which the mouse and the portable computer stand. The processing unit from signals supplied by the accelerometer calculates the computer mouse movement relative to the base surface, which forms the basis of the mouse motor (6) position on a computer visual display unit.
