[Class 12 (i).] A bearing mounting particularly for rolls one end of which has to be lifted comprises a housing mounted on a support so as to be capable of pivotal movement about a transverse axis so located that the radial bearing load normally tends to prevent such movement from the normal position, and a housing stop preventing movement in the opposite direction beyond the normal position. A housing 3 rests on a fixed support 8, the end 10 of which acts as a stop preventing rotation in one direction, the other end of the housing resting on a semi-cylindrical fulcrum-forming bar 11 carried in a groove in the support. Tongues 13 on the support prevent lateral movement. Within the housing is a selfaligning roller bearing mounted on the roll-neck 2 by the provision of a taper sleeve and nut. The bearing is closed by labyrinth packings 14, 17, and is relieved of load during lifting of the opposite end of the roll by an adjustable stop 18 which is normally just out of contact with the member 14, and which also prevents damage to the packings. To facilitate lifting, the cover 17 may be extended to form a handle. Two or more points may replace the bar 11. |
