A system for processing payment is provided to prevent malicious use of card information read from a customer card in a POS(Point Of Sale) terminal by installing a function for encoding read card information to a card reader module of the POS terminal, and solve security problems occurring during a payment approval request communication process by enabling the POS terminal to encode/transmit a message and enabling a host to decode/process the decoded message. A card reader module(130) encodes payment tool information with an encoding key to be decoded in the host by reading the payment tool information from the customer card. The POS terminal(100) generates and transmits a payment approval request message included the encoded payment tool information to the host(160). The host receives and decodes the payment approval request message received from the host terminal. The card read module encodes the verified payment tool information by verifying the payment tool information read from the customer card. The card reader module includes a plurality of encoding keys classified into each key index, encodes the payment tool information with one encoding key, and provides the encoded payment tool information and the key index to the POS terminal. |
