PRODUCTION OF 15ALPHA-HYDROXY-4-ANDROSTENE-3,17 DIONE BY HIGH CONCENTRATED BIOCONVERSION

A 15alpha -hydroxy-4-androstene-3,17-dione is microbiologically produced by adding 4-androstene-3,17-dione (4-15 g/cm 3>) to 16-26 hours cultivation of Penicillium simplicissimum(NCAIM F 001327) as a microorganism; mixing the mixture at a speed of 350 rpm and a peripheral velocity of 1.83 m/second; then, after adding the substrate, raising the rotation speed of the mixer to a maximum of 450 rpm and the peripheral velocity to a minimum of 2.36 m/second; stopping the fermentation by >= 15% after 90-120 hours; and then isolating the required product in known manner.
