Meso-selective preparation of ansa-metallocene complexes involves reacting a biscyclopentadienyl ligand system with a transition metal compound. Meso-selective preparation (P1) of ansa-metallocene complexes of formula (I) involves reacting a biscyclopentadienyl ligand of formula (II) with a transition metal compound of formula (III). (LB) yM 1>(OR 3>)X x+1(III) R 1>, R 1>', R 2>and R 2>' : H or 1-40C organic radical; R 3>1-3C bulky organic radical bound via nonaromatic carbon or silicon (optionally substituted by halo, 1-20C organic radical, optionally containing Si, N, P, O and S); T,T' : 1-40C divalent organic group and together with cyclopentadienyl ring forms a ring of 5-12 atoms (optionally containing heteroatoms Si, Ge, N, P, As, Sb, O, S Se or Te); A : bridge consisting of divalent atom or divalent group; M' : element of group 3,4,5 or 6 of periodic table or lanthanides; X : organic or inorganic radical replaceable by cyclopentadienyl anion; x : 1 - 4; M 2>alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or magnesium monohalide fragment; p : 1 (in case of doubly positive charged metal ions) or 2 (in case of singly positively charged metal ions or metal ion fragments); LB : uncharged Lewis base ligand; y : 0 - 6.
