Making-up dark skin involves applying to the skin a cosmetic composition (C1) comprising at least one red interference pigment in a medium, in which when the composition is applied to the skin, it generates highlights with an intensity of >= 3000 cd.m -> 2> and a dominant wavelength of 580-650 nm. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a makeup composition (C2) comprising at least one colorant, and at least one red interference pigment in a medium, where when the composition is applied to the skin, it generates highlights with an intensity of >= 3000 cd.m -> 2> and a dominant wavelength of 580-650 nm; and (2) a set of at least two cosmetic compositions (C1), where the saturation difference between two compositions of the set is = 2, the red interference pigment in the two compositions is at concentrations that differ by at least 1%.
