Natural gas treatment comprises separating it into methane, hydrogen sulfide and nitrogen streams, reacting the hydrogen sulfide with a Group VIIB or VIII metal oxide to form a metal sulfide, separating the effluent into water and hydrogen streams, and reacting the nitrogen and hydrogen streams to produce ammonia.
