<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display and its manufacturing method, capable of preventing generation of gap irregularities near a sealing member and of improving the manufacturing yield. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display includes an active area 12 in which a liquid crystal layer 300 is held between an array substrate 100 and a counter substrate 200, laminated by the seal member 11 and which is comprised of a plurality of pixels PX (R, G, B). The array substrate 100 includes a light-shielding layer 15 arranged in a frame shape at the periphery of the active area 12 and a planarizing layer 16, arranged at an outer circumference of the light shielding layer 15 and having a film thickness similar to that of the light-shielding layer 15, and the sealing member 11 is disposed on the light-shielding layer 15 and the planarizing layer 16. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
