PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image heating device which is equipped with an exciting coil 25, a rotating heating element 21 generating heat by the action of generated magnetic flux of the exciting coil and a pressure body 22 forming a nip part N with the rotating heating element, and heats an image on recording material by holding and conveying the recording material in the nip part, wherein both merits of local heating and all around heating are obtained relative to the rotating heating element 21. SOLUTION: The exciting coil is drawn and wound round in the rotary shaft direction of the rotating heating element, and the length of an opposed part where the rotating heating element and the exciting coil are opposed in the rotating direction of the rotating heating element is 1/2 or more of the peripheral length of the rotating heating element, and the length of a non-opposed part in the rotating direction of the rotating heating element is 1/3 or less of the peripheral length of the rotating heating element. The heating value of the rotating heating element is set larger in an upstream half area than in a downstream half area in the rotating direction of the rotating heating element from the nip part, and the opposed part has heating value distribution in the rotating direction of the rotating heating element, and a heat generation peak part where the heating value is the largest is arranged in a more upstream direction of rotation than the nip part.
