PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering angle sensor of higher accuracy. SOLUTION: The steering angle sensor to be fixed on the steering shaft 105 for measuring the absolute angle comprises a coarse signal measuring mechanism 45 and a fine signal measuring mechanism 15 for outputting the fine signal; and an operation mechanism 37 for calculating the absolute angle of the steering shaft 105, based on the coarse signal measurement data and the fine signal measurement data. The operation mechanism 37 is constituted, such that detecting the abnormal data exceeding the prescribed range among the measurement data, including an abnormal data detection/elimination part. Accordingly, the accuracy of the detection of the rotation angle of the main driving gear (of the steering shaft) is made high, and as a result, high accuracy for the steering angle sensor is realized.
