<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit of a liquid crystal display capable of providing light which is uniform as a whole and has high luminance. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight unit 130 of the liquid crystal display includes one or two or more light sources 132, a light guide member 131 on which light emitted by the light sources 132 is made incident and an optical sheet 134 providing light emitted by the light guide member 131 to a liquid crystal display panel 100. A plurality of first V-shaped grooves arranged in one direction are formed in a first surface of the light guide member 131 of the backlight unit 130 and a plurality of second V-shaped grooves having an arrangement pitch different from that of the first V-shaped grooves are formed in prescribed regions positioned between the light sources 132 in a region on the side opposed to the light sources 132 of the light guide member 131. Thereby, reflection and dispersion of light are increased in regions outside a light radiation angle range to be the prescribed regions and quantities and intensity of incident light are made uniform as a whole. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
