<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide edge emphasis technique that can reduce image deterioration of a digital image. <P>SOLUTION: An image processor includes an area setting means of setting an area including a pixel of interest, a luminance value deriving means of finding luminance values of respective pixels, a primary derivative amount deriving means of deriving a first derivative amount of the luminance values derived by the luminance value deriving means as to a plurality of pixel arrays, an edge direction decision means of deciding an edge direction of luminance at the position of the pixel of interest based upon the result of the first derivative amount, a range determining means of determining a target pixel array range of pixel value replacement, and a substituting means of finding a second derivative amount of the luminance values, and then substituting a pixel value with a pixel having minimum luminance when the second derivative amount has a positive value or a pixel value with a pixel having maximum luminance when a negative value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
