<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display panel wherein display quality of an image is enhanced. <P>SOLUTION: The display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer. The first substrate includes a signal line defining a unit pixel, a thin film transistor electrically connected to the signal line and a pixel electrode electrically connected to the thin film transistor and formed in the unit pixel. The second substrate includes a light shielding film intercepting light and a common electrode formed on the light shielding film and having a domain defining part formed correspondingly to the pixel electrode. The liquid crystal layer is interposed between the first and the second substrates. The light shielding film includes a main light shielding part formed at the edge of a unit pixel so as to cover the signal line and the thin film transistor and a sub light shielding part protruded by a prescribed length from the main light shielding part to a region where the domain defining part is not formed. Thereby, occurrence of light leakage is prevented even when the first and the second substrates are deviated from each other by external impact and display quality of the image can be further enhanced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
