PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a variable resistor which is produced inexpensively and is connected with a connector. SOLUTION: The variable resistor consists of a variable resistor body 10 and a bracket 20 wherein the variable resistor body 10 has: an insulating substrate 1 provided with a resistor on the surface thereof; a rotor 4 to which a slider is fixed; a plurality of terminals 5; and a cover. The terminal 5 is insert-molded into the insulating substrate 1 wherein one ends of the terminals 5 on the opposite sides are connected electrically with the resistor, the lead-out portions at the other end are led out from the same side face of the insulating substrate 1, and a bend 9 is provided near the center of the lead-out portion by bending (ribbing). The terminal 5 is made of a thin plate of uniform thickness, and functions as a surface mounting terminal, and also as a terminal for insertion mounting into a connector. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
