PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an array substrate for a liquid crystal display device, with which no wavy noise occurs and high picture quality is materialized. SOLUTION: The array substrate includes a transistor of a pixel region, having: a gate wire and a data wire which are formed on an upper part of the substrate, are intersecting each other, and define the pixel region; an insulating film between the gate wire and the data wire; a gate electrode extending from the gate wire; an active layer on an upper part of the insulating film; an ohmic contact layer which is separately adjacent to both edges of the active layer and which is constructed with a first material; a buffer layer which is on an upper part of the ohmic contact layer and which is constructed with a second material different from the first material; a source electrode which is in contact with either one edge of the buffer layer; and a drain electrode which is in contact with the other edge of the buffer layer, wherein the active layer is formed on an upper part of the gate electrode with a shape of an island and inside a boundary section defined with the periphery of the gate electrode.
