PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine for chain-stitch button sewing, which has a configuration capable of switching a sewing thread treatment in button sewing in accordance with needs between a case for leaving a thread part from a knot to a thread end and a case for not leaving the thread part. SOLUTION: The sewing machine for the chain-stitch button sewing has the configuration to perform changeover between a cutting processing for cutting the sewing thread by operating a mobile cutter 93 after forming the knot in the sewing thread when the sewing of a button 121 is terminated and a severing processing for performing severing at the knot part by giving tensile force to the sewing thread and using the force after forming the knot in the sewing thread when the sewing of the button 121 is terminated.
