PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet processing device capable of enhancing the productivity when performing center folding irrespective of the number of sheets of a job constituting one copy. SOLUTION: When the book-binding mode is designated, and the number of sheets constituting one copy of a job exceeds the maximum number of sheets for center fold, grouping is performed (S3). In this grouping, only three paper sheets can be wound around a buffer roller 505, and the maximum number of paper sheets for center fold is three, and the number of paper sheets constituting one copy of the job is four. Thus, the stacking operation of the paper sheets onto a saddle processing tray is divided into two groups. In addition, to prevent only one final paper sheet (P4) is not subjected to the center fold, the paper sheets are divided into two groups, i.e., the group of the first paper sheet (P1) and the second paper sheet (P2) and the group of the third paper sheet (P3) and the final paper sheet (P4). The center fold operation is performed following this grouping. On the other hand, when the number of paper sheets is equal to or less than the maximum number for center fold, the center fold operation is performed without performing any grouping.
