A cheek plate pressing device is provided to press-support cheek plates by automatically compensating cheek plates. In a briquette manufacturing apparatus(100) for compacting reduced materials containing directed reduced irons to manufacture briquettes, a cheek plate pressing device(90) comprises a bar for press-supporting cheek plates(80) installed at side faces of a gap between a pair of rolls(20) to the gap side; a supporting member which passes through the bar to support the bar and fixed and mounted onto the briquette manufacturing apparatus; a rotation member joined with the supporting member by a hinge; a cylinder mounted on the rotation member from the opposite side of the supporting member; and a jaw joined with a piston rod of the cylinder that passes through the rotation member to support an end of the bar.
