The device has a number of adjacent vibration bodies (2) movable up and down relative to each other onto which the material to be sorted can be delivered from above. The vibration bodies have openings (3) on the top (2.1) through which part of the material to be sorted can be transported by the movement of the vibration bodies and a gap between adjacent vibration bodies to enable the movement. The gap has the smallest gap width relative to its entire perpendicular extent in the plane of the top of the vibration bodies.
