<p>A virtual disk drive architecture is provided to enable a developer to design an HDD(Hard Disk Drive) and other memory storage devices in an efficient, simplified, and effective way by using a virtual design system. A virtual HDD assembly simulates operation of at least one of a storage medium, a spindle motor(411), and an arm installed in an HDD system. A read channel module simulates the operation of a read channel(421) installed in the HDD system. A controller module simulates the operation of a controller(422) installed in the HDD system. A servo position system module simulates the operation of a server position system(423) installed in the HDD system. A user interface allows a user to change at least one operation parameter of the HDD system. An HDD design system generates servo position system data promptly in real-time. At least one of the read channel module and the controller module is implemented in the HDD design system by partially using an IC at least. The user interface includes a computer that is operable to control and monitor operation of at least one of the VHDA, the read channel module, the controller module, and the servo position module.</p> |
