<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing unit that contributes to the inhibition of reduction in the image quality and the pollution control for an image forming apparatus itself, and to provide an image forming apparatus having the same. <P>SOLUTION: The developing unit includes a developing roller for developing an electrostatic latent image on an image holder by toner in a developer, which roller has a cylindrical shape and rotates upward in a development area; a first storage chamber having a first auger for supplying accommodated developer to the developing roller, as well as, for transporting the accommodated developer in a first direction parallel to the axis of the developing roller, while stirring the accommodated developer; a second storage chamber disposed so as to abut against the first storage chamber, which second chamber has apertures on both ends of the rotary shaft direction of the developing roller for moving the developer between the first and second storage chamber, a toner supply port for receiving the feeding of the toner, and a second auger for transporting in the second direction opposite to the first direction, while stirring the developer; and a guide member for guiding to the second storage chamber, at least part of the developer at the peeling position, where the developer retained on the downstream side of the development area in the developing roller peels off from the developing roller. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
