PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound represented by formula (I) and usable for treatment of melatoninergic system-associated disorder, and to provide a method for producing the compound and a pharmaceutical composition. SOLUTION: The pharmaceutical composition contains the compound represented by formula (I), an enantiomer thereof, and an additional salt thereof with a pharmaceutically acceptable base, in combination with one or more pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle. The method for producing the compound includes carboxylating a nitrile compound corresponding to formula (I) by using dimethyl carbonate, reducing the resultant product in the presence of a hydride, and optionally separating the reduced product on a chiral column.
