PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a belt fixing device which prevents a belt slip and a crack of a metallic layer, prevents a paper jam and has satisfactory peeling performance with simple configuration. SOLUTION: There are provided an endless belt member 10 which is fitted at both ends in the axial direction to a rotating member 50 and is freely rotatably formed, a pressure member 30 which is disposed so as to come into pressure contact with the outer peripheral surface of the belt member 10, a pressing member 16 which is disposed on the inner side of the belt member 10 and forms a fixing nip section by holding the belt member 10 between itself and the pressure member 30, and a peeling assisting member 40 which is disposed on the downstream side in the recording medium conveyance direction of the fixing nip section and promotes the peeling of the recording medium from the belt member 40. The extension region in the axial direction of the peeling assisting member 40 is approximately equal to the maximum paper passage region of the fixing nip section and is so set as to be made shorter than the above region.
