PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knock-type removable brush very useful in maintenance of a brush having been used in coating and a method of maintaining the brush tip in order to prevent the used brush from hardening with a paint and thereby becoming difficult to reuse. SOLUTION: A knock-type removable brush consists of a handle and a brush tip, engaged together. The handle is a hollow body with its lower part being flat, has engagement holes in both sides and at positions a specified spacing above the lower end and is provided with a stopper in the central part of the inside of the engagement holes. In the body of the handle, an extrusion bar having a V-shaped part in the lower end is arranged in an up-and-down movable way with a part of the upper end of the extrusion bar protruding from the upper end of the body of the handle. The brush tip has crescent elastic engagement members which each protrude from both ends of the base of the brush tip in the direction opposite to that of the brush tip and have a notch in the lower part and an engagement ring in the central part of one side face of the base of the brush tip. A method of maintaining the brush tip comprises separating the brush tip at a touch and sealing and storing in a tight container for the brush tip. The knock-type removable brush allows the easy removal of the brush tip from the handle at a touch without soiling of the hand, one-touch removal of the brush tip and storage in a tight container for the brush tip, and easy engagement of the handle with the brush tip on use.
