The anchor (10), for a dowel, has a strand structure. One strand (12) lies along the longitudinal axis (L) and a second strand (14) is at an angle (gamma ) to the axis forming intersections (K). At least one and/or the other strand is wound around the axis at a gap (A1.A2) from it. The strand material allows it to be expanded at an angle to the longitudinal axis.
