The invention relates to a system for the mass transport of natural gas at high pressure by sea, using 11-metre-long seamless steel cylinders (1) having the necessary characteristics and strength in order to comply with current standards. A composite cover (2) is added to the cylinders by means of pultrusion after the cylindrical zone (3) of the cylinder (1) or the steel thickness of the cylindrical zone (3) has been machined by turning, thereby increasing the steel thickness of the semispherical zones (4). The cylinders (1) are subjected to an internal surface treatment involving cold deformation (blasting), such as to produce residual deformations on the internal surface which induce stresses that counterbalance those caused by the internal pressure, since the blasting treatment enables plastic deformation up to a predetermined depth.
