<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cerium oxide-zirconium oxide-based compound oxide having excellent dispersibility of platinum and appropriate oxygen storage capacity (OSC), and a simple method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: This cerium oxide-zirconium oxide-based compound metal oxide is a compound oxide comprising cerium oxide and zirconium oxide and characterized in that: (1) the compositional ratio by weight is CeO<SB>2</SB>:ZrO<SB>2</SB>=60:40 to 90:10, and (2) cerium oxide and zirconium oxide, in which cerium oxide in a tetragonal or cubic crystal form is solid-dissolved, are mixedly existing. Preferably, the abundance ratio of cerium oxide calculated from X-ray diffraction peak intensity after heat treatment at 1,000°C for 3 hours in the atmosphere is 50 vol% or more. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
