<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing roller designed so as to prevent the surface of the developing roller from being scratched even after a large number of prints are produced by a development system printer using non-magnetic one-component developer and so as to prevent toner from scattering in the apparatus and soiling the interior of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In the developing roller 32, a conductive covering layer 12 is formed along the outer periphery of a conductive shaft 11, and non-magnetic one-component developer is held on the surface of the covering layer, thereby forming the thin layer of developer. In this condition, without touching a latent image holding body holding an electrostatic latent image on its surface, the thin layer of developer is attached to the electrostatic latent image on the surface of the latent image holding body. Thus, the electrostatic latent image is rendered visible. In this developing roller 32, the covering layer contains an ion conductive agent, and the relation between the universal hardness HU(H/mm<SB>2</SB>) and plastic hardness HUplast(N/mm<SP>2</SP>) of the covering layer is set to 0.25≤HU/HUplast≤0.95. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
