PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a defect, while generating only a little impact, by providing a driving and/or reverse rotation element for a chain or a step chain or a pallet chain without having the polygonal effect. SOLUTION: This driving and/or reverse rotation element 1, in more details, a driving and/or carrier chain of a continuous transport device for transport persons, for the chain 2 having a plurality of first and second chain pins 3A, 3B, 3C and 3D and a chain plate 4 connecting these chain pins, has a first pitch circle 5 and a second pitch circle 6 such as the first chain pins 3A and 3C on the first pitch circle 5 and the second chain pins 3B and 3D on the second pitch circle 6, alternately engage with the driving and/or reverse rotation element.
