A controller of an electric vehicle in which energy stored in a power sto rage section is prevented from being discharged upon occurrence of collision , derailment or breakage of stringing. The controller of an electric vehicle comprises a DC/DC converter having one end connected with the DC power supp ly side of an inverter for driving a motor, a power storage section connecte d with the other end of the DC/DC converter, a switch provided between the D C/DC converter and the power storage section, and a control section for open ing the switch when occurrence of abnormal situation is predicted or when ab normal situation occurs.
