<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light guide capable of improving utilization efficiency of light although the light from a light source can be conducted to a thin light guide plate, a backlight device using the same and a light source. <P>SOLUTION: The light which is emitted from a fringe of a YZ plane and proceeds to the YZ plane is reflected by a top face 4A at a point A as shown by a solid line, and then, is reflected by a bottom face 4b at a point B different from a point B', but the point B does not exist in the YZ plane. This effect is not necessarily restricted to the light which enters a light-leaking reduction shape from the YZ plane and a plane parallel to the YZ plane, that is, the incident light having only a Y direction and a Z direction components. Similar effect is obtained for the incident light having an X direction component in addition to the Y direction and the Z direction components. In other words, since a part or the whole of the Y direction component of the incident light is transformed to the X direction or the Z direction by the top face 4A, the possibility that the light satisfies the total reflection condition increases. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
