<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lubricant base oil that has excellent viscosity-temperature properties, heat and oxidation stability and satisfies both a high viscosity index and a low-temperature viscosity property at≤-35°C even without using a synthetic oil such as a poly-α-olefin-based base oil, an ester-based base oil, etc., and a low-viscosity mineral oil-based base oil and remarkably improves MRV viscosity of especially lubricating oil at -40°C and a lubricating oil composition containing the lubricant base oil. <P>SOLUTION: The lubricant base oil has≥90 mass% of saturated component, the ratio of cyclic saturated component to the saturated component of≤40 mass%, a viscosity index of≥110 and an aniline point of≥106 and the ratio ofεmethylene to the total of constituent carbon of 14-20%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
